Well, after a long, gray winter full of very short days, it appears spring has sprung. The daffodils along the roadside are bursting into bloom, even if there isn’t much sun to brighten them yet. We planted ours way too late to bloom this year, if they even come up. And I’m realizing that I need some red and pink out in the front yard to brighten the early springs.
I never realized that the calendar starts for the seasons are different in different places. Spring here (and in Britain, I’m sure) begins Feb. 1. No middle of the month confusion–spring is Feb, Mar, April, and summer is June, July, August May, June, July. (I originally forgot May–oops!) It’s a little odd to have fall start on August 1, but hey, whatever works.
