I was working on a different blog post, but this video has taken over my mind – and my smile. If you need a bit of happy time today, this is for you! (And as a bonus, how many of the movies can you name?) Doesn’t that make you just start dancing in your seat? While your toes are still tapping, I’ve got to get back to writing now. So far, though, I see these movies in the video (in no particular order): Beetlejuice Get Smart Risky Business Flashdance (the newer version) Beauty and the Beast Happy Feet Mean Girls Mary Poppins Mamma Mia! Grease Saturday Night Fever Dirty Dancing Big Frozen The Sound of Music The Mask The Blues Brothers Enchanted West Side Story Puss n Boots There are a few more I know and can’t remember the names of, and even more that I haven’t seen. Can you … Continue reading
It’s a down day today, and I needed a little (huge?) boost. That stirred up in me a wistful feeling of the time I spent watching shows at the Opry. Lo and behold, a friend sent a link, and I’m sharing it with you. So enjoy some comfort music/inspiration/feel good sounds, compliments of The Piano Guys: OK, I can get on with my life now. But as long as I’m here, it’s time for a quick ROW80 check in: Schoolwork: a very difficult A. I managed everything, but the load is increasing. Edits on Shimmer: D. School assignments took over. Hope to get back to it soon, but it may need to wait for Thanksgiving week. One blog post a week: B. I’m here, but only because it’s quick. I did, however, take some time to spew thoughts on paper that may turn into later posts here, so that’s good. … Continue reading
Having a hectic, last-minute push for Christmas? Take a moment or two and enjoy these videos – they’ll put a smile back on your face. Here’s the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker, played on a “glass harp,” a set of crystal bowls. Absolutely gorgeous! What’s your preference: a few tasteful Christmas lights, or going all out with plastic Santas and blow-up snowmen? Here’s an awesome alternative: And because I love flash mobs, the unexpected beginnings, the looks on people’s faces, and especially thinking about how it must have made them smile all day long, here’s the Hallelujah Chorus in a food court. It’s almost five minutes long, so if that’s too much, watch a bit and then go to the next one – Ding Dong Merrily On High, which even has a bit of Irish dance in it! Merry Christmas from my house to yours!
What a fun week it’s been. I had a few more blog readers, more comments, and more re-tweets than I expected! Thank you all – they were fun to read and I hope to see you back here again, now that I won’t be spending all my time on contest posts and college classes. (No, I’m not done, but I only have one final exam left for this semester.) Not only that, but I hope some of you checked out Samantha Warren’s blog, who started this whole thing with a Blog Scavenger Hunt for her birthday. I found several new bloggers I liked, and I even won a prize one day! As a participating blog, I couldn’t play on the days my blog was featured, so I wasn’t eligible to win the Kindle Mini, but some lucky person did. Speaking of which, the winner of Susan Wiggs’ The Goodbye Quilt … Continue reading
My sister just sent me a link to this. It said, “An elderly couple walked into the lobby of the Mayo Clinic for a checkup and spotted a piano. They’ve been married for 62 years and he’ll be 90 this year. Check out this impromptu performance… It’s all about attitude. Enjoy!!” I especially love the gentleman’s enthusiasm, shown in his bounce. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RI-l0tK8Ok0 (I can’t figure out how I inserted an actual YouTube video before!)
