Sunday Funnies: David Tennant, Catherine Tate, and Shakespeare

Our Sunday Funnies today are for all you Whovians.  Here’s David Tennant teaching Catherine Tate in an English class, with a bit of Shakespeare thrown in.  Tune your ears to some British accents and come along for the ride.  (And if it doesn’t make sense to you, you’ll just have to watch a few Dr. Who episodes and get hooked like the rest of us!) ROW80 Update: Unfortunately, Shakespeare seems to be the class that’s sending me to the overwhelmed side of the room right now.  It’s been a rough week – I started a cold on Sunday that lingered through the week and left me way behind schedule with readings – especially Romeo & Juliet.  Three assignments on it due this week before we start Henry IV.  Sigh. Needless to say, my ROW80 goals rather fell apart.  I did spend two days with my writing, which included … Continue reading

Sunday Funnies: Schroedinger’s Cat . . . and Zombies?

I clicked on the YouTube video below when I was looking for a simple explanation of the Schrodinger’s Cat problem. I’m still not sure I understand, but the zombie kitties had me laughing! Enjoy! Now that you’re done giggling, it’s time for my weekly ROW80 update. I’ve been doing a LOT better on the health side.  I’m 7 for 7 on stretching, and 4 for 6 on extra exercise – either my PT stuff or walking.  Hurray!  Between that and my chiropractor and massage therapist, my back is decent again after going kaput hauling a backpack around my first week of school. (Shouldn’t have been so stupid in the first place, but I’ve lightened the load now.) Writing?  Well, better than last week.  It’s been a busy week homework-wise, so my energies have been spent there.  But I’m 3/6 on writing, and two of those days included my novel!  Hurray! … Continue reading

Shrilugh: Great YA Fantasy by Myndi Shafer

I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of Shrilugh, by Myndi Shafer this weekend.  Not for the possibility of a book review (I only review books I like, and there was no guarantee I’d like it enough), but because Myndi is a blogging buddy.  She offered and I accepted. And then the problems began. I started it Saturday when chores and homework were mostly done.  I was still reading it in the car on the way up to visit the grandbaby.  I kept reading it late that night, which meant I didn’t get my Primary lesson done for church the next day, and the kitchen remained a wreck.  I read in snatches on a busy Sunday, and then finished it on Monday instead of working on my own novel.  But hey, at least I got my Shakespeare assignment done first! So . . . Shrilugh (pronounced shree-loo) has … Continue reading

Phillipa Gregory plus Sunday Funnies: Girl Vanishes in Outhouse

For all you Phillipa Gregory fans (The Other Boleyn Girl, The Kingmaker’s Daughter, etc), she’ll be having a live video chat over on Goodreads on Wednesday (Aug 29) at 1:00 pm Eastern time.  Here’s the Goodreads link to the invite.  I’ll be there – will you? Now, on to the other important stuff!  Our Sunday Funnies spotlight today is a candid-camera type prank, where the girl not only doesn’t come out of the outhouse, but the outhouse vanishes, too!  The looks on people’s faces are priceless.  Enjoy!  (ROW80 update is below.) And for the last important stuff of the day, it’s been a good week for me getting used to classes and especially getting a handle on my Shakespeare homework, but my very few ROW80 goals only get a 50/50: ~Write every day:  well, um, *looks at ceiling, out window, anywhere but here*, I only managed one day out of … Continue reading

Sunday Funnies: Abbott and Costello Do Math

Sunday Funnies:  In honor of the back to school season, here’s Abbott and Costello giving us a great math lesson to remember. Enjoy! And my much-delayed ROW80 goals: After a stressful spring and summer filled with both good and bad things, I’m back writing and blogging, but I need to keep a balance.  Especially since my college classes start this week (although I won’t need Abbott and Costello’s math tips). So my goals are pretty basic: Write every day, six days a week.  Blog, novel, short story – doesn’t matter how much as long as I get started.  Because as long as I don’t get sidetracked by games, 15 minutes easily turns into an hour most days, right? Some sort of exercise every day, if only stretches.  And stretches are a must! That’s it.  Too much pressure makes me shut down, and then I don’t get anything done, don’t talk … Continue reading
